Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana postponed the 2025 Budget Speech on Wednesday.
He was expected to outline key financial priorities for the billions raised from taxpayers but instead the speech was put off a month until disagreements over potential tax increases are resolved.
Budget Justice Coalition, Daniel Peter commented saying, “it’s no secret that many of us in the NGO sector and civil society are fiercely in favour of ensuring that we expand the protection of socioeconomic rights, of course one of the ways we need to do that is through raising revenue.”
