The Equal Education Law Centre has submitted a comment on behalf of EE concerning the NEEDU Bill. EE Support the establishment of an independent agency providing reliable expert information on the subject of South African schools, as monitoring and evaluating their progress is vital to address challenges in the system. However, EE is concerned that the Bill does not allow for the sufficient independence of NEEDU to protect it from external interference and political pressure. The comment is therefore focused on whether the Bill adequately safeguards the necessary autonomy of NEEDU.
