On 18 May 2012 the Equal Education Law Centre acting on behalf of Equal Education submitted a comment on the Department of Basic Education’s Draft Policy on the Organisation, Roles and Responsibilities of Education Districts, Notice 180 of 2012 in response to the Minister of Basic Education’s call for comments on the Draft Policy. EE welcome the progress towards a cohesive national policy for organisation, roles and responsibilities of education districts. However, EE is concerned that the policy is not comprehensive enough to assure clarity and transparency of roles and responsibilities. Clearer delegation of roles and responsibilities would greatly improve the functionality of district offices and schools.
