Muslim pupils at Northcliff High School in Johannesburg were issued with “concession cards” in order to wear headscarves.Parents and students were outraged as they likened the practice to carrying a “dompas” under apartheid.
EELC’s attorney Lisa Draga commented on the practice: “It is saying your existence cannot be accommodated within this space until you constantly carry this card.”
