Decolonising the Law Through Activist Lawyering
As we continue to honour the legacy of our founding Chairperson, Arthur Chaskalson, who keenly appreciated the role of lawyers in bringing about a just social order, the Equal Education Law Centre is pleased to invite you to the 2nd Arthur Chaskalson Lecture.
10 Years of Legal Activism Towards Equal and Quality Education in South Africa
2022 marks 10 years since the establishment of the EELC! This is a significant
milestone in the life of the organisation, one which offered an opportunity for
reflection. We have indeed been reflecting on our accomplishments and our
approach as movement activist lawyers in the education sector. In our reflection, we have put together a booklet that helps us reflect on our achievements over the past 10 years.
The Rule of Law in Times of Political Crisis
The EELC was able to celebrate their 10 year milestone at an inaugural Arthur Chaskalson Memorial Lecture on 28th July 2022. Arthur was the founding Chairperson and we paid tribute to his legacy with an exhibition of our work and a compelling lecture titled ‘The rule of law in times of political crisis’ delivered by Adv Tembeka Ngcukaitobi SC. The lecture was both relevant and challenging.
