Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has assured the education sector that the department’s plan for the reopening of schools has made provisions for the needs of learners with disabilities. According to Human Rights Watch, almost 120 000 learners are enrolled in special needs schools. It says in 2017, close to 11 500 children with special needs were still waiting to be enrolled.
