On 12 June this year, the Equal Education Law Centre (EELC), following consultation with Equal Education (EE) parent members, made our submission on a bill that could transform the futures of South Africa’s young children.
The Children’s Amendment Bill 2023 is intended to streamline the regulation of early childhood development (ECD). If passed, it will make some essential, urgent reforms to the overly complicated and burdensome regulatory framework for ECD; reforms that will go a long way towards protecting young children’s rights. The bill has been years in the making, and we congratulate the department of basic education on its publication.
